Curriculum Statement

The Werrington mastery curriculum is designed so that every child has a coherent and progressive journey through an ever widening sequence of essential knowledge, skills and experiences.

It is very important to state that we view the curriculum as the totality of every planned experience and interaction that the children will encounter at our school. It saturates and informs every aspect of our practice and our culture: from academic content, to safeguarding , to the recruitment of adults working at the school, and to the development of the characteristics and virtues which will support them in living well-rounded, fulfilled and happy lives.

If you would like to find out more about the curriculum at our school, please contact our curriculum lead, Mrs Sam Lockett slockett@wps.potteries.ac.uk.

Right to Withdraw from Religious Education (RE)

Religious Education is a statutory part of the school curriculum and is provided for all pupils in accordance with the school’s agreed RE curriculum.

Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child, either wholly or partly, from Religious Education lessons. Parents do not need to provide a reason for requesting withdrawal.

We encourage any parent or carer considering withdrawal to discuss their concerns with the Headteacher before making a final decision. This enables us to explain the nature and content of the RE curriculum and answer any questions they may have.

If a parent wishes to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education, they should contact the school in writing.

Further information about our Religious Education curriculum can be found on this page. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
